Subject: Reunion Info Update #1

I guess I should have seen it coming in 1977. I mean, what class has a six year reunion? Well, at least the ten year was on time. When fifteen rolled around, well, at least we had a ten. And when 20 arrived, well, at least there'll be a 25th. Now, three years later, it doesn't look like a 25th is going to happen...

In the meantime, my wife's class of 1974 has been having reunions every 5 years, like clockwork. And every five years, I commiserate with Joe Ansbro and Stan Abacherli about the class of 1971's failure once again to get together.

But that time of despair has come to an end. The Rio Linda Senior High Class of 1971 will re-u-Knight in 2001! (Sorry, that was a bit too cute. Well, get over it...)

Yes, thanks to the Internet, I've been able to contact a core online group and make good progress on the whereabouts of a significant portion of the class (about 60 so far). It's still a bit shy of the entire class, but not too bad for a month's work.

Already, many of you have provided me with key contacts that have blossomed into a number of leads and additional contacts, and so on and so on and so on.... It's been great! I've touched bases with participants on previous reunion committees and I've really gotten a lot of help from them. I feel that I've nearly exhausted the Internet route, and think we're ready to move on to the next step. This is where I can use some help. If you're willing to make a few calls to old classmates, let me know. Or if you've got e-mail addresses of classmates, or even their parents, children, brothers, sisters, cousins, nephews, nieces, acquaintances, anyone who might know their whereabouts, let me know.

To make the job of remembering who they are somewhat easier, I've got a list on the reunion web page. It's broken down into four basic categories: Found - those whom I have personally contacted; Finding - those for whom I have first or second hand contact information, but haven't been able to make contact yet; Seeking - those whose whereabouts are unknown to me; and, unfortunately, Deceased. The direct address for this list is

And to help your memory, the yearbook pictures of the ones being sought are just a link away.

If you'd like to catch up on the lives of those who have been found, check out the bio section:

It's pretty lean right now, but at least you can learn a bit of what I've been up to the last 28 years. Please add your own info through an easy to use form at

http://reunion.rocemabra.com/bio/rlsh1971/create

Once they start rolling in, I'll link them to the classmates page.

Of course, the whole thing starts at the reunion info page

http://reunion.rocemabra.com/rlsh1971

That's where the most up-to-date information will be found, and when details are worked out, the date, place, cost, etc. of the actual reunion activities. But for now, we're still a long way from that.

So, what's next? The High School has my telephone number, and will direct any inquiries my way, but I'd like to get a committee formed to start working on the details. Two years may seem like a long time, but it will be here before we know it. Please let me know if you're willing to help, especially if you live in the general area. Though e-mail is a pretty good communications tool, a committee will definitely need to get together in person every once in a while.

And don't hesitate to drop me a line, or call, if you've got great ideas. I want this to be our most successful reunion!
